GMUG Forest Plan Webinars

In 2019 our NAPgA members did an outstanding job sending letters to the Forest Planning Team about the proposed packgoat ban that would have affected much of the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre, and Gunnison (GMUG) National Forest in Colorado. They responded to our concerns and their current proposed plan acknowledges this and is at the very least making sure that packgoats are not treated as a bigger threat than domestic sheep, which are permitted to graze in certain areas of the GMUG.
Links to the plan and various alternatives and environmental impact statements can be found here:
Here is the link to the actual revised forest plan: https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/fseprd939801.pdf
The GMUG is planning several “open houses” via zoom in the coming weeks. The schedule with links to these sessions can be found here:
We especially hope that all of our Colorado members and those from other states who pack with goats in Colorado will be able to attend at least one of these meetings.
